Atiku promise to unify Nigeria if voted into office

The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has vowed to unify the country if voted in as President comes February 25.

Abubakar, who stated this at the Ox-Bow Lake Pavilion, Yenagoa during the presidential campaign rally, said Nigeria has not been this divided since the present administration of the All Progressives Congress Party (APC) came into power.

According to him, he is going to work to restore the glory of Nigeria back to the form it was before the APC government took over.

“I will restore security in this country. I will also restore the economy and Resource Control. Between 1999 and 2015, Nigeria had the best economy and became the largest in Africa. But today the All Progressives Congress Party government has brought it down. When we come into power, we will restore the economy and uplift the living conditions of the people,” he said.

He also promised to ensure the issue of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is completely resolved.

Atiku also promised to restructure the country and give Niger Delta region the needed attention to get what they deserve.

In his remarks, the governor of Bayelsa, Senator Douye Diri, said the only presidential candidate that has made his intention known on Resource Control and Restructuring of the country is Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

According to him, it is only Atiku that knows and understands the feeling of the Ijaw people and the feeling of Bayelsa State and therefore deserves the total votes of Bayelsans.

While noting that election is no longer about guns and snatching of ballot boxes but by PVC, he stressed that the youths, the women and the elders of Bayelsa State are solidly behind PDP.

The PDP has done a lot for the country through good governance and the incoming President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his vice and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa will do more to alleviate the suffering of the people.

Former Governor of Bayelsa State Senator Henry Seriake Dickson in his remarks said the people of the state in the last election stood against intimidation, armoured tanks and guns to defend their votes, adding that they resisted manipulation and they are ready to deliver and defend the party again during the forthcoming general election.

The National Chairman of PDP, Senator Iyorcha Ayu urged the people to vote for PDP to rescue the nation from bad governance declaring that Nigerians are suffering as a result of a bad economy.

In his welcome address, the state chairman of the PDP Mr Solomon Agwanana, said, they have the human structures to win all the elections in the state.

He said the ruling APC has put the country in a mess and called on the people to be ready to vote out insecurity, poverty, bad governance and the bad economy the party has enthroned in the country.
