Former Minister of Aviation and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic party, Femi Fani-Kayode has responded angrily to the continued detention of Yoruba Nation separatist leader, Sunday Igboho alongside his wife.
Recall that Igboho was arrested with his wife in Benin Republic while making efforts to escape to Germany after he was declared wanted by the Department of State Security (DSS)
The former fiery minister described the continued detention of Igboho’s wife in Cotonou as the “height of wickedness,” noting that it’s “only barbarians, terrorists, cowards, degenerates, reprobates, evil men and devil-worshippers” that detain women which is against international practice even in times of war.
“It is the height of wickedness to arrest & detain Sunday Igboho’s wife, Mama Ayomide, alongside him in Cotonou as they were about to board a plane to Germany. Up till now the lady is still in detention. Even in war women & children are meant to be protected & not targetted.
“Only barbarians, terrorists, cowards, degenerates, reprobates, evil men and devil-worshippers do otherwise. Mrs. Igboho has not been accused of anything and she has not broken any laws. Her “crime”, in the eyes of her tormentors, is simply being the wife of Sunday.
“Leave her alone! Anything less would be cruel. I make this appeal to the authorities in both Cotonu & Nigeria. The women & children of those we perceive as being our adversaries should NEVER be targetted for death, destruction, incarceration, torture, persecution or humiliation,” he tweeted.
