Gunmen ambush set eight soldiers, policemen ablaze in Imo

There is palpable tension at Umualumaku Ehime Mbano local government area of Imo State as scores of security officers feared dead and two patrol vans set ablaze.

In a viral video trending across the state, some of the eyewitness could be heard saying in Igbo language “that the shoot out between the security personnel and the gunmen looked like a Hollywood combat screen .”

It was gathered that the joint security taskforce team in two security trucks were ambushed and set ablaze by their attackers, with no survivors.

According to another source, the security operatives were burnt inside their operational vehicles while in transit.

He disclosed that reinforcement teams had been dispatched to Umualumaku community to retrieve the bodies of the eight security operatives.

Police spokesperson for Imo state, Henry Okoye, confirmed the development and requested for time to get the full details of the killings.
