The International Criminals Court [ICC] has condemned the killings of civilians and abduction of women by armed militants close to Maiduguri in north-eastern Nigeria saying justice matters.

United Nations in a statement has said that “at least 110 civilians were ruthlessly killed, and many others were wounded in this attack. “The incident is the most violent direct attack against innocent civilians this year,” Kallon said, adding: “I call for the perpetrators of this heinous and senseless act to be brought to justice.”

But ICC in a statement on November 30, 2020 by Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda on the recent killing said that, my office has been closely following reports over the killings of 100 civilians as well as abduction of several women by armed militants close to Maiduguri in north-eastern Nigeria.

ICC went ahead and said that, “Justice Matters” and Nigeria is a state party to the Rome Statue. I am gravely concerned about these reported crimes, she stated.
