The proscribed Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) and their leader, Nnamdi Kanu are seriously losing their support base in the South-east and South-south region of Nigeria as more Igbo security operatives are killed by gunmen suspected to be the arm wing of the separatist movement.
Recall that there have been a coordinated attacks on security formations in the two regions which have resulted to the unfortunate death of both junior and senior ranking officers of the police force.
Investigation by Elombahnews shows that many security operatives who were once sympathetic to the convoluted course of the movement have made a sudden revise, accusing IPOB and its leader of losing focus and direction.
A security source based in Rivers State revealed to Elombahnews that they are not longer happy with the outlawed group and its leader.
“You don’t expect us to be happy with what Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB is doing to our people. How can you be killing the same people you claim to be fighting for? What kind of nonsense Biafra is that? 99% of the security operatives killed in the southern region are mostly Igbos. As i’m talking to you now, many of our people in the force are so angry. Nobody wants to hear anything about IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu again”.
When Elombahnews asked the source what is been done to arrest the situation, it said concerted efforts are being made to fish out the hoodlums.
“We have decided to close ranks and fight this common enemy to a standstill. What Kanu and his gang of killers are doing is alien to the people of the region. We in the security circle condemn it totally. And we will not sleep until these boys are smoked out and decisively dealt it.”
However, Elombahnews also observed that the tune of discussion in the region has suddenly changed as people who were once in support of the actions of IPOB gunmen have recounted their initial stance. Today, many are condemning and calling for an end to the brutal killing of security operatives.
