The national chairman of Action Alliance (AA), Mr Adekunle Rufia Omeaje, has called on Nigerians to reject all the senators who recently voted against the electronic transmission of election in the 2023 polls.

Omeaje said this at the weekend in Benin City, Edo State while receiving a new member, Solomon-David Okanigbuan.

He predicted that the unpopular decision will certainly cost most of the lawmakers who voted against the reform their seats come the 2023 general election.

Recall that senators mostly from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) had voted against the transmission of election results electronically last week.

He described the decision by the Senate to vote against electronic transmission of election results as an anti-people decision.

Omeaje insisted that the senators who voted against the reform did so because of greed and fear of failure.

He queried: “If our children have been writing exams like JAMB, WASSCE and NECO, and the results were transmitted electronically, why can’t our election results be transmitted electronically?

“What is so special about transmitting election results that we have not done before? I was here during the gubernatorial election in Edo State. Election results were transmitted electronically.”

The opposition party chairman advised that the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) should be allowed to be truly independent.

He called on journalists and Nigerians to resist what he referred to as “the satanic decision” by the federal lawmakers.

The Edo State chairman of AA, Israel Iyobosa Guobadia, pleaded that the youths should be given the opportunity to rule the country saying he is confident that they will make a difference.

Okanigbuan, a presidential hopeful thanked the party for accepting him, noting that what attracted him to the party was its ideology which tends to accommodate women and youths, adding that his vision for Nigeria is to change the narrative and make it a prosperous nation. (Sunday Tribune)
