PHOTOS: Enugu govt has put residents lives at Risk, by demolishing houses amid COVID-19 outbreak

I totally condemn this barbaric and inhumane act, people have been mandated to sit at home in this pandemic period, where shall they now stay, these victims can’t travel because state borders have been closed.

The Enugu State Government has been called out by some social media users over the demolition of houses amid Coronavirus outbreak lock-down in the country.

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who had banned all social and cultural gatherings in the state including marriages and burial ceremonies, masquerade festivals, drinking bars, night clubs and all group sporting and recreational activities.

But the same Enugu State Government allegedly give residents less than 24-hour notice before demolition their home in Asata, during the coronavirus lockdown, making them homeless and putting their lives at risk.

However, Ms. Nwada Oluchukwu, who wrote with anonymity; said, Today being 2-04- 20 has become a sad day for the residents of Asata, in Enugu State.

Pictures attached are ruins of people’s PROPERTIES that has been demolished on the Governor’s order

Interviewed residents said they were given less than 24hours notice.

Though the properties are located in a not so good area (sited around waterways/drained systems) but this is a very very wrong time to carry out such exercise to worsen it all without prior notice

I totally condemn this barbaric and inhumane act, people have been mandated to sit at home in this pandemic period, where shall they now stay, these victims can’t travel because state borders have been closed.

Children, elderlies, sick, pregnant women are now officially homeless all thanks to our Governor his Excellency Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi

SOMEONE SAID MOSTLY SHOPS ARE LOCATED THERE BUT HE THINKS SO BECAUSE OF HOW BAD IT LOOKS, SOME MIGHT BE SHOPS BUT PEOPLE SLEEP THERE AS A HOME.

MY TAKE IS THAT THIS IS A VERY WRONG TIME TO CARRY THIS OUT!

ENUGU STATE IS INDEED IN GOD’S HANDS

I WEEP!!!
