Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has denied mocking the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, over his ambition to run for the 2023 general election.
The denial is coming on the heels of a report making the rounds, where Soludo was quoted as saying that Peter Obi’s Labour Party has no structure to win election.
He described the report as the handy work of fifth columnist whose stock-in-trade is to malign the image and reputation of public officers.
It would be recalled that a similar report was made indicting Sen Uche Ekwunife of mocking Mr Peter Obi which was later found to be untrue as those present at the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) stakeholders meeting dismissed the allegation.
A press statement on Monday by the Chief Press Secretary to Soludo, Mr Christian Aburime, had described the statement credited to the governor as totally false and unfounded.
The statement further said: “Our checks reveal the statement was a total misrepresentation by an overzealous reporter who was not among the journalists present when Governor Soludo spoke extempore during his interaction with some audience after his 100 days in office media broadcast
“The above statement could best be described as an attempt by some misguided elements to cause disaffection between the Labour Party Presidential candidate, His Excellency, Peter Obi and his party leadership
“We therefore wish to caution those wishing to cause mischief by publishing false and misleading stories to desist from doing so
“The public should please disregard the entire statement as it never emanated from Governor Soludo.”
