US and Nigerian parliaments identifying Fulani terror threat to Nigeria on same day indicts so-called independence — Lawyer Emmanuel Ogebe | NN NEWS

US Rep Chris Smith who forced Obama to name Boko Haram “terrorists” calls Fulani militia an existential threat just as the Nigerian Parliament seeks their designation as terrorists.

Last week upon emerging from the US congress, I received the welcome news that the worst senate since the 1999 return to democracy has called for the tagging of the Fulani Killer Militia as “terrorists.”

The House of Representatives followed suit too.

It is gratifying to see a National Assembly that has presided over the systemic genocide of its citizens and actually rewarded Nigeria’s failed security chiefs with ambassadorships finally wake up to its oversight responsibilities as against its rubber stamp slavery.

Incidentally the very same day, US Congressman Chris Smith in his remarks at the Africa Subcommittee said that in Nigeria the principal “threat comes from Fulani ethno-religious supremacism, which has been actively encouraged and abetted by the current administration of Muhammadu Buhari.”

What is apparent to objective observers abroad has now finally been recognized by the people’s representatives at home!

An African proverb says, “the baby that won’t let his mum sleep, will also not sleep.”

Those who overlooked, ignored, justified and condoned killings by Fulani Militia are now suffering a similar fate at their hands and finally willing to face facts on ground.

Problem recognition is universally recognized as a critical first step towards problem resolution.  In this sense, we’re taking a step in the right direction towards emancipation for Nigerians.

As Nigerians mark a faux Independence Day, it is a critical question whether the British colonialists returned Nigeria to Nigerians or returned Nigeria to herdsmen.

The very fact that both houses of Nigeria’s bicameral legislature deliberated on the banditry threat to Nigeria at the same time alarm was also raised in the US Congress just days to the Independence commemoration, raises the question whether Nigeria is truly independent or not in danger of implosion.

More sections of Nigeria are under the control of Boko Haram, ISWAP and bandits than at any other time in our history.

Over 50,000 Nigerians remain refugees in Cameroun going on seven years. Some who we repatriated to Nigeria have died and been killed and some have returned back to Cameroun as refugees.

Two sisters who trekked from Gwoza to a UN refugee camp and then trekked back to Nigeria were recently displaced again when their orphanage was burnt down by Fulani militia in Miango, Plateau State.

In Southern Kaduna, 38 people slaughtered that week celebrated independence in a mass burial. The Buhari regime has successfully constituted Nigeria into hell on earth!

We therefore commend the National Assembly’s action as reported below.

“Plenary proceedings of the House of Representatives for Thursday, September 30th, 2021

The Speaker of the House, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila presiding.

After leading the opening prayer and the National Pledge, the Speaker examined and approved the votes and proceedings for Wednesday, September 29th, 2021

MOTIONS OF URGENT PUBLIC IMPORTANCE

  1. Rep. Babajimi Benson moved a motion on the call for the declaration of bandits and their sponsors as terrorists and it was seconded by Rep. Egberongbe Adewale.

Rep. Benson in leading the debate urged members of the House and all well-meaning Nigerians to join the Nigerian Senate in urging the presidency to declare bandits and their sponsors as terrorists so they can be tried under the Anti-terrorism Laws. This, he stated will be a strong deterrent to the sponsors who would want to protect their identity and business interests. Rep. Benson called on President Muhammadu Buhari to implement the recommendations of the national security summit organized by the House of Representatives, as measures from all arms of government are critical in fighting the rising trends of banditry and terrorism in Nigeria.

Speaker Gbajabiamila reiterated the commitment of the House of Representatives and the Senate to continue fighting all forms of banditry and insecurity to a standstill.

The motion was voted and adopted.”

Having successfully led the effort to get Boko Haram designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization by the US with the aid of a 75-page and 55-page Legal brief to Secretaries of State Clinton and Kerry respectively as well as a draft congressional Bill to designate Boko Haram, it is hoped that no further time will be wasted on semantics as to the true terroristic nature of these so-called bandits.

Nigeria and its international allies must move quickly to resoundingly deal with this existential threat to regional peace and stability.
